Mark Weston was tried and acquitted for Vikki Thompson’s murder in 1995 due to lack of evidence.
Re-examination of his clothing several years later revealed blood on one of his boots which contained DNA matching Vikki’s. In only the second re-trial since the double jeopardy rule was scrapped, Weston then went on to be convicted.
