A common question in this new area of investigation is around the type of evidence that digital investigations can provide. Communications data is pivotal in a lot of cases, including but not limited to call data records, IP address analysis, Social Media Data, email session data analysis and attribution.

Attribution is often overlooked when digital content is used, so providing an expert review in this area as well can be of real benefit to any case.

Digital Investigation Services

Review of Digital Media Investigator Case 

Our experts will provide a thorough and in-depth review of the digital content on a case. Any communications data will be reviewed and verified, and our team will ensure that the correct procedures have been adhered to.

IP Address & Attribution Analysis 

Generally, when social media has been used on a case, there should have been an element of attribution considered. Our experts will conduct a thorough review of the IP addresses behind the social media account and can verify the usage, giving the client a greater understanding of how the account has been used. At times the IP address information can assist with geolocating the account to a general area.

The police or law enforcement often produce a lot of data in this area; our role is to then ensure all information is reviewed and provide the client with a clearer understanding of the account in question, including how and, where possible, where it was used.

Social Media Account Investigation 

If a case details social media account usage, then we can assist in providing the client an understanding of the usage, a thorough review of any material produced and verification of the prosecution’s material.

OSINT Research and Investigation

OSINT (Open-Source INTelligence) used to be restricted to purely ‘intelligence’, however, more and more we are seeing this used as evidence. We can either provide a review of the material or conduct our own research using our in-house experts.  This consists of online information, intelligence and evidence gathering which can be targeted to individuals, companies, groups and much more.

Again, attribution also forms a key part of our investigation and plays a vital part of the process; our research can assist with supporting or refuting attribution of online accounts or digital devices.

Court support and training services

On occasions the client may come across a social media application that they have no knowledge of or may wish to learn more, our expects can provide support in court around specific social media applications and the data the Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) can obtain and what authorities are needed.  We are also able to offer the client training services that can be designed, bespoke courses to talk about particular social media applications, or provide an overview to all the popular applications.

Prison Service

There may be cases where the Prison Service requires an online investigation; this could be from an internal investigation, through to inmates obtaining access to the internet via devices held within their cells or within the prison grounds.

Online security assessments, reconnaissance or any other risk to the location may also be reviewed by our in-house experts.

Probation Service

The Probation Service may suspect or require private investigation experience in relation to their clients. Our expertise in online investigation covers all aspects of social media applications and may be able to assist with any suspicions of breach of bail or conditions.
